City hunt to raise funds for cancer charity

A special event is being run to support a Chichester cancer charity and to take the place of the Chichester Dragon Boat Challenge, which cannot go ahead this year due to Covid 19.

The event which will be held on Saturday, August 23, has been devised and organised by the Rotary Club of Chichester Priory and involves using a naviagtion app on a mobile device to visit locations in Chichester.

Guided by your smart phone using the  app WHAT3WORDS you will visit 15 locations around the city centre and at each location solve a clue in teams up to six people (team size should conform to Government regulations in force at the time of the event).

The winner will be the team who has solved the most clues correctly and completed the challenge in the shortest time. Prizes will be awarded to the winner and runner up.

When you book your ticket via Eventbrite, you’ll be sent the secret code to get you started to reveal the starting location. Check-in opens at 10am and closes at 2pm and you need to allow yourselves two hours to complete the hunt.

The aim of the challenge is to raise vital funds for the Chichester charity CancerWise. The cost is £25 per team and all proceeds go to CancerWise.

The charity’s drop-in centre, based in Chichester, provides support services for people diagnosed with cancer, their families and carers across the Post area. Clients can access a variety of complementary therapies, counselling and living well courses to help people to live well on a day-to-day basis. CancerWise offers practical, emotional and social support to help patients through diagnosis, treatment and beyond.

At various points around the city you will find Rotary members wearing distinctive yellow tabards to provide assistance, but not to solve clues.

  • Step 1  – On receiving the pack, your team name and start time will be recorded
  • Step 2 – All race locations are in the central Chichester area, using the map you will be able to plan your race route. You are free to decide the order in which you go to the locations and solve the clues.
  • Step 3 – When you return to the gazebo, we will record your end time.
  • Step 4 – The winner will be the team who has solved most clues correctly and completed the challenge in the shortest time. Prizes will be awarded to the winner and runner up.
